Medical Negligence Claims shore by 55% in the Emirates this year
This year in the emirates over 100 complaints of medical negligence or malpractice have been filed.
This is an increase of over 55% on the previous year’s figures according to figures from the Dubai Heath Authority.
These arouse from serious complications after surgery or inadequate treatments, which caused illnesses to become worth or resulted in death. Further complaints included miss prescribed medications.
The Dubai Health Authority has now put in place 25 inspectors who make daily inspections of which will hopefully reduce these numbers.

A Schoolboy from Hertfordshire awarded £5 Million in medical negligence claim
Robbie Crane a twelve-year-old schoolboy was admitted to Harefield Hospital for corrective surgery on his heart which had a serious heart defect from birth.
Although the operation was a success, the claim for medical negligence was for postoperative negligence. After the operation, Robbie’s brain was starved of oxygen, which has resulted in him suffering from cerebral palsy.
The claim was made by the parents on their sons behalf which resulted in an out of court settlement being made which is thought to be around £5 million and has been approved by the High Court.
